How to choose the right ring size? – Useful tips from Diana Silver
Finding the perfect ring is an exciting experience – whether it’s a piece you choose for yourself or a special gift. But what if you don’t know your exact ring size? Don’t worry – we can help! At Diana Silver, we face this question every day, so we’ve put together the best tips and tricks to help you make sure you get the right size.
Why is an accurate ring size important?
A ring that’s too tight is uncomfortable and can obstruct blood circulation, while a ring that’s too loose can easily slip off your finger. Your ring is perfect if:
- convenient to put on and take off,
- it doesn’t squeeze, but it doesn’t turn all the time,
- fits well on the finger (every finger is a different size!).
1. Know which finger the ring will go on
First, think about which finger on which hand you want to wear the ring. The size can vary not only from person to person, but also from hand to hand – the fingers on the dominant hand are often a little thicker.
✨ Tip: The size of your fingers can also change between morning and evening – heat, exercise or even salt intake can affect them.
2. Use a ring size table
In the Diana Silver online shop, you can buy in centimetre diameters and EU sizes. The two most common details to watch out for:
- Internal diameter (mm) – for example: 16 mm, 17 mm, etc.
- Circumference (mm) – e.g. 52 mm, 54 mm, 56 mm etc.
(This is the circumference of the inner circle – this is what you can measure with a string.)
👉 Most common ring sizes for women: 52-56, for men: 58-62
3. How to measure at home?
A. Using an existing ring
If you have a ring that fits comfortably on the finger where you want the new one:
- Place it over a ruler or compass.
- Measure the inside diameter in millimetres.
- Use the ring size chart below to convert (or feel free to ask us).
| EU size | Diameter (mm) |
|---|---|
| 46 | 14,6 mm |
| 47 | 14,9 mm |
| 48 | 15,3 mm |
| 49 | 15,6 mm |
| 50 | 15,9 mm |
| 51 | 16,2 mm |
| 52 | 16,5 mm |
| 53 | 16,8 mm |
| 54 | 17,2 mm |
| 55 | 17,5 mm |
| 56 | 17,8 mm |
| 57 | 18,1 mm |
| 58 | 18,5 mm |
| 59 | 18,8 mm |
| 60 | 19,1 mm |
| 61 | 19,4 mm |
| 62 | 19,7 mm |
| 63 | 20,1 mm |
| 64 | 20,4 mm |
| 65 | 20,8 mm |
B. With string or paper strip
- Take a thin strip of paper or thread.
- Wrap loosely around the fingertip.
- Mark where the two ends meet.
- Measure in millimetres – that’s the circumference.
- Based on the value obtained, compare it with the size table.
🔍 Tip: If the result is between two sizes, go for the larger one, especially for wider rings.
4. Pay attention to the style of the ring!
It doesn’t matter what type of ring you choose:
- Thin, fine rings require accurate sizing.
- For wider rings (e.g. over 6 mm), it is recommended to choose half a size larger, as more surface area is in contact with the finger.
- Adjustable rings: these are ideal as a gift because they can be adjusted comfortably for small size differences.
5. Ask us for help!
Not sure about the measurement? No problem! The Diana Silver team is here to help:
- Contact us by email or Facebook message,
- You can send a photo of an existing ring,
- Or you can write the measured perimeter and we’ll help you choose.
🎁 Tip for gift givers: If you’re giving a ring as a surprise, try to get another ring that fits well (the one she usually wears on her finger) and measure it discreetly.
Summary – how to find the perfect ring size:
✅ Decide which finger you want.
✅ Measure an existing ring or use a band.
